As we mentioned earlier there are multiple types of models. The basic 3 would be Fashion, Beauty and Commercial models.
Fashion models, also known as runway models or catwalk models, are models with strong looks and distinctive features who showcase clothing and accessories by walking the runway during fashion shows. These models are hired to display their latest collections to buyers, the media, and the public, during fashion weeks in major cities like Paris, Milan, New York, and London.
Most agencies have precise requirements when it comes to becoming a runway model: you need to be at least 175cm (5’10) with Bust: 81 cm - 86 cm (32' - 34'), Waist: 58 cm - 64 cm (23' - 25'), Hips: 86 cm - 91 cm (34' - 36').
These requirements have changed within the last few years, the curvy models have taken the world of fashion by storm. So as long as you are over 175 and can walk well, you may be able to become a runway model.
Other than runways, as they have less of a classic beauty, they mostly do editorial jobs such as photos for high-fashion magazines. These models are known for their ability to convey a wide range of emotions and stories through their poses and expressions. Editorial modeling is more about artistry and storytelling compared to commercial modeling, which focuses on selling products.
Beauty models are the models that mostly do beauty jobs such as campaigns for makeup and skincare products. They can also do hair jobs such as campaigns for hair products & tools as well as editorials that are mostly beauty related.
Commercial models, also known as the “girl next door” is the model who works in the fashion industry to promote products such as clothing, accessories, and cosmetics. These models typically appear in various forms of advertising and marketing materials, including print ads, catalogs, online stores, television commercials, and billboards. The main goal of a commercial model is to present the product in an appealing way to attract customers and drive sales.
